Passat CC Awarded for its Outstanding Design


Volkswagenfs recently released Passat CC was recognised with a Design Award
for its innovation and design excellence at the 2009 Australian International
Design Awards.
The Australian International Design Awards, a division of Standards Australia, is
recognised by the Commonwealth Government and the International Council
of Societies of Industrial Design as the peak promotional body for the Australian
design industry, and for its important role in fostering a culture of design and
innovation in Australia.
The Volkswagen Passat CC was awarded for eBest Exterior Designf, which is both
distinctive and sophisticated. The front end of the Passat CC shows another
facet of the Volkswagen brandfs face. More dominant than on any other
Volkswagen, the radiator grille with its two cross-struts and centrally placed VW
logo spans the area between the headlamps. An indicator of the Passat CCfs
excellent overall aerodynamic qualities is its drag coefficient of cw 0.29.

 

Volkswagen Golf named World Car of the Year

Volkswagenfs New Golf was honored as the 2009 World Car of the Year. A jury
comprised of fifty-nine international automotive journalists from twenty-five countries
around the world chose this yearfs World Car of the Year, which was announced
at a news conference during the New York International Auto Show.
gIt is a tremendous honour for Volkswagen to have its global best selling model, the
Golf, named the 2009 World Car of the Year,h said Stefan Jacoby, President/CEO,
Volkswagen of America, Inc.
The Golf, a perennial favourite in the Volkswagen line-up, has sold more than 26
million units in 120 countries, making it one of the top selling vehicles of all-time. The
sixth generation Golf first debuted at the Paris Motor show last September, and
made its Australian debut at this yearfs Melbourne International Motor Show.
The Golf has been designed to be quieter, sportier, more fuel efficient and present a
clean, distinctive appearance. The Golf is a phenomenon, regardless of its particular
generation. This style icon defies all automotive and social class distinctions and has
come to represent the benchmark in its segment.
